Food: cut out the midribs from the green outer cabbage leaves, iron them until they are soft. Then rub a little olive oil on one side of the leaves and place them onto areas of pain, covering them with a towel. Leave on for a while before changing again.
Figs have an important sulphur compound called ficin, which is valuable in the treatment of chronic joint inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis and traumatic injuries. Soak 3 figs with 1 cup of boiling water for 5 minutes, then mash into a poultice and apply directly to any area of the body, cover with a warm towel and keep on for 1/2 hour
Herbs: to help ease the pain apply a hot flaxseed poultice to the joints -simmer the flaxseed then place it steaming hot into a linen cloth that has been folded a few times.
Essential oils: cloves, cajuput, garlic, juniper, sage, thyme, eucalyptus, Any one of these oils diluted in the proportion of one part to 10 parts of olive oil can bring immense relief when massaged into painful joints.
Oil: olive oil is a very effective treatment. Warm the oil slightly then massage into the affected areas as soon as pain starts.
